An awareness program on burn cases in Nepal coordinated by community organizer Mohan Gurung on behalf of Public Health Concern Trust, Nepal (phect-NEPAL) was held at The Everest Kitchen on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. Dr. Shankar Man Rai, a pioneer in reconstructive surgery in Nepal, shared his journey into reconstructive surgery and burn care with the community. Dr. Rai stressed the urgency for action to ensure timely surgery and health care to burn injuries. Though burn injuries do not discriminate based on socio-economic status, the cost of treatment for the underprivileged and economically disadvantaged groups of Nepal is often outside their means.

Dr. Rai and his colleagues at Public Health Concern Trust, Nepal (phect-NEPAL) have created “Burn Fund,” an endowment fund, to support victims of severe burn cases from economically disadvantaged families. The parliament member Honorable Dr. Chandra Kanta Bhandari and MaHa, nationally recognized affectionate comedy duo Mr. Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, are the custodians of this endowment fund.

Phect-Nepal has set up a “Go Fund Me” campaign for the Burn Fund. Please consider donating. The link to the Go Fund me campaign is below. XylonTech will donate USD 1000 towards this noble cause.
